Today UIL released the cutoffs for the 2022 Reclassification and Realignment. The numbers are in as follows:
Division breaks for Football
5A-D1 1925-2224
5A-D2 1300-1924
4A-D1 880-1299
4A-D2 545-879
3A-D1 360-544
3A-D2 250-359
2A-D1 164.5-249
2A-D2 105-165.4
1A-D1 59.5-104.9
1A-D2 59.4 and below
This next year we will see some shifting that impacts 3A Division 1 and our district as Littlefield will be moving down to 3A Div 2 and we will see 2 other High Plains teams make the move down to 3A Div 1 from 4A in Vernon and Iowa Park. District 3 will have 3 departures with Early, San Angelo TLC and Wall all dropping down to 3A Div 2.
Below you will find the projection for what Region 1 very well could look like come February when UIL makes their official realignment announcement. Putting an emphasis on travel and trying to limit the furthest distance between 2 schools in the same district we came up with what logically feels pretty accurate. Though if our 2 years in 4A a few cycles ago taught us anything, UIL doesn't always use the same logic. Just ask Denver City and Perryton who each traveled 308 miles each way to play each other in district!
Shallowater is one of Bushland biggest games and it will always be a great game.
District gets a little tougher when you swap out Littlefield for Shallowater.
