Lady Falcons are Regional Final Champions

Following an impressive display of power on Saturday that included 8 home runs in an 18-6 victory the Lady Falcons made the trip back to Floydada for a win or go home Game 3 matchup with the Idalou Wildcats.

The Lady Falcons struck first in the 2nd inning as Abby Howell led off the inning with a walk and then used some heads up base running to go 1st to 3rd after a sacrifice bunt by Tatum Ainsworth. Charley Spinks then came up and drove Howell in on a deep fly ball to left field to put the Lady Falcons up 1-0.

The Lady Falcons would add to their lead in the 3rd inning as Jillian Howell drove a line drive down the 3rd base line into the corner for a stand up double which brought up Brylee Adams who hit a bomb to left field putting the Lady Falcons up 3-0. Adams home run was the Lady Falcons 88th home run on the season tying the 2021 Lady Falcons for the Texas All Time home run record.

Brylee Adams was dominant in the circle all night taking a 3-1 lead into the 7th inning where the Lady Falcons would again take advantage of a lead off walk, this time by Jacy Ornelas followed by a Jada Permenter laying down the bunt and beating the throw to first to setup runners on the corner for Jaycee Adams who hit a shot into the right field gap for a triple scoring both Ornelas and Permenter to push the score to 5-1. Jillian Howell would come up and drive Adams in to stake the Lady Falcons to a 6-1 leaded heading to the bottom of the 7th.

The Wildcats determined not to go down without a fight saw Teresa Mendez work a walk to lead off the inning followed by a double on a hard hit ball into the left field corner by Cecilia Cortez setting up runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. The next batter Katelyn Turner popped up into foul territory that Jillian Howell brought in for the 1st out of the inning. The Wildcats Amanda Peralez came up next and hit a hard shot down the 3rd base line that Abby Howell knocked down and made a great throw to get Mendez at the plate for the 2nd out. The final out came on a long fly ball by the pinch hitter Sally Hodges that Chloe Cochran brought in at the warning track to secure the Lady Falcon victory.

Brylee Adams picked up the complete game win as she went 7 innings allowing only 1 run on 4 hits with 3 strike outs
